The Museum of Fine Arts offers free admission all three days of this holiday weekend. Enjoy special exhibitions—including three paintings on loan from the Metropolitan Museum of Art—art making, gallery tours, family activities, and a community art project. All on-site contributions this weekend will be donated to The One Fund Boston.

Boston Calling Music Festival is a two-day, two-stage, family-friendly festival featuring some of the biggest and best acts in live music.

The mass Military Heroes Fund creates a garden of flags on Boston Common for Memorial Day weekend. This year, they are planting 33,000 flags, each of which represents a brave Massachusetts service member who gave his or her life defending our country since the Civil War. The completed garden is a breathtaking tribute to the true meaning of Memorial Day and a powerful message of community support to the families of these fallen heroes that their sacrifices will never be forgotten.

The Boston Police Department and Boston Police Runner's Club hosts the annual Run To Remember, honoring Massachusetts Law Enforcement Officers killed in the line of duty by celebrating their lives and giving back to the community.

Sports and Fitness Expo - Sat & Sun: over 30 exhibitors offering great savings, new product samples, nationally recognized athletes and service providers. Children's activities include jump rooms, clowns, K-9 demonstrations, story telling, kids safety programs and more. Sat 9am-5pm; Sun 6am-12n. 

Saturday: Kids Fun Runs begin at 10am on top of the Seaport World Trade Center. There is no entry fee and all finishers receive an official finisher’s ribbon. You do not have to sign up in advance, simply come to the starting line between 9:30am and 10am on Saturday morning. Races begin at promptly 10am.

Sunday: Half-marathon begins at the Seaport World Trade Center, through Fanueil Hall, the Boston Common, by the State House and along the Charles River. (Sold out)

The light-hearted comedy of George Balanchine’s classic Coppélia includes a cast of 20 children from Boston Ballet School and is a jubilant and engaging classic for the whole family.

Starting as a statewide sheep show almost 40 years ago, the Sheep and Woolcraft Fair has become a celebration of all things sheep, from shearing and herding to spinning and weaving. You can check out the wares of food vendors and craftspeople, and visit the Kiddie Ag area. There are workshops for kids, like knitting, spinning, needle felting – even making treasure bags. The Hypocrites' bring their award-winning and audience favorite production - exotic excursion featuring bathing beauties, philosophizing pirates, and grown men in remarkably short shorts! Warning: If you want boring, stay away; this experience will cause immense joy and the compulsion to spontaneously sing along. Come ashore with the "Very Model of A Modern Major General," the Pirate King, and a banjo-picking Mabel. The show features beach balls, sunshine (the artificial kind), and tons of fun music.

Kids learn about the life of a marine and sailor at sea by learning to march, using the tools of the seafarer’s trade, exploring everyday life on board USS Constitution, and making an officer’s hat. Young sailors can purchase a “Build a Ship” activity to take home or make at the Museum ($2).

Discover the MFA with fun (and educational!) activities designed for children ages 4 and up to do with adults in the galleries. Piece together puzzles, learn mythical tales, and uncover ancient Egyptian mysteries. Choose from our ever-changing array of interactive activities, books and Art Cards. Borrow a tote bag equipped with a sketch-book and colored pencils, and the Cart’s staff will point you on your way. Look for the Family Art Cart in the Shapiro Family Courtyard.

Celebrate the season in downtown Newburyport with great live music, art, fine crafts, and food from Newburyport's best restaurants. Especially for kids, Lindsay & Her Puppet Pals perform at 10:30am Sunday.

The Ecotarium's newest exhibit is based on Lewis Carroll's classic, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and features a rabbit hole to crawl into, the Hall of Doors, the Queen in her garden, and a Mad Tea Party, all designed to inspire curiosity and encourage exploration.
