To celebrate its 10th anniversary, the Boston Children's Chorus has partnered with the ICA to present an evening of contemporary choral music, including a new work by Haitian-American composer Daniel Roumain, specially commissioned for this performance, combined with a dance performance featuring choreography by Amy Seiwert and a libretto by Marc Bamuthi Joseph.

The annual festival begins with a street fair and sidewalk sale from 10am-3pm and concludes with an outdoor concert by the “NoWheremen”, a local Beatles cover band, at 3:30pm in Depot Square. Local restaurants sell a variety of foods.

So kick up your heels and join in on an afternoon of classical chamber music inspired by songs and dances from around the world. An instrument “Petting Zoo” and demonstration follows in the library's outdoor Children's Garden. Children can handle and play orchestral instruments as guided by the musicians, and are encouraged to touch, blow, pluck, bow, and strike.

Take a friend or family member fishing for free - you won’t need a fishing license to fish any waterbody statewide for these two days.

On Sunday, at the annual Horn Pond Fishing Festival in Woburn, you can cast a line, learn about fishing and water safety. Bring your equipment, or borrow from a limited quantity of fishing equipment available. FREE

Note that except for this weekend, a license is required for those 15 and older; licenses for 15 to 17 year olds are free, though. Licenses available at www.mass.gov/massfishhunt. Purchase of a fishing license directly supports fishing, stocking, education and fish habitat management programs.

Come see live owls up close, learn about their natural history, and join in a hooting lesson. Enjoy nature walks, henna, face painting, children's games and activities, reptiles and amphibians, an insect zoo, craft demonstrations and vendors, naturalist-guided walks, pond explorations, demonstrations on composting and planting to attract wildlife, food, a bake sale, and much more.

Sanctuary garden volunteers are on hand to give guided tours of our nature gardens and advice on plant selection and gardening using native plants to attract wildlife. A schedule of events is available on the website the week before the event. Rain or shine.
