Weekday Picks for Boston Kids: February Vacation Week

With February Vacation Week upon us, parents can find loads of special activities and museum programs to entertain the kids. Many of the events listed below run the whole week, so while our picks represent one possible itinerary, there are enough great choices on the calendar to fill each day this week with a fun activity. Plus, there are lots of ways to enjoy this winter wonderland, like going sledding, tubingskiing, and snowboarding

Our picks for the week include everything from the Bugs Bunny Film Festival in Cambridge to Snowshoeing on the Story Trail at Gore Place in Waltham. Great museum programs include Lowell Kids Week for budding historians and MFA Vacation Week Activities for the young art fan. Monday – Lowell Kids Week is an annual festival of free family fun that takes place during February school vacation.

For some hands-on crafts, try the Free Drop-in Family Days at the Umbrella Community Arts Center in Concord.

Tuesday – The annual Bugs Bunny Film Festival features cartoons with Bugs and all his Looney Tunes friends. 

Our museum pick today is Feb Fest: Lights, Camera, Science! at the MIT Museum in Cambridge's Central Square.

Wednesday – The Benkadi Drum and Dance group performs traditional rhythms and movement from the countries of Mali and Guinea.

To get the kids outside, the Snowshoe on the Story Trail activity is a great option.

Thursday – The pinktastic Pinkalicious: The Musical features everyone’s favorite pink princess, Pinkalicious.

For a free and fun alternative, bring the kids to the Chinese New Year Lantern Art Workshop at the Hyde Park Branch of the Boston Public Library.

Friday – Kids enjoy free admission at the MFA all week, and can take part in art-making activities, story telling, family tours, and more as part of the MFA's Vacation Week Activities.

In performances, the younger set will appreciate the Rolie Polie Guacamole Family Concert in Watertown.
