Camping out is one of summer’s greatest pleasures. Finding a campsite, setting up the tent, roasting marshmallows, snuggling down in sleeping bags—it’s all a wonderful family adventure. But when you’re a parent with young kids who haven’t camped before or you’ve only got the weekend, you may want to stick close to home.
Why not make Mother’s Day a whole weekend celebration? On Sunday, you’ll want to be in town for the One Family Music Festival (presented by us, Mommy Poppins Boston!), but Saturday would be the perfect day for a family adventure. Martha's Vineyard is a place out of time. Celebrities, and even presidents, vacation there quietly side by side with ordinary folks. Elegant boutiques huddle next to rusty fish shacks. You won't find water parks or go karts, but there's still plenty to do with kids on this island off the coast of Cape Cod.
