Cape Cod has always been my go-to for a family summer vacation. I grew up spending summers there, and it still gives me that magical “this is what summer feels like” vibe—laid-back, breezy, and full of family-friendly charm. But staying at Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club in Brewster, MA truly brought my classic Cape Cod vacation to the next level.

It’s the perfect home away from home, with spacious accommodations and every amenity you could need to make traveling with kids easy and enjoyable. Set right on Cape Cod Bay, Ocean Edge has it all—including beach bonfires, oyster tours, a plethora of pools, biking trails, and endless kid-friendly activities. If you're dreaming of a summer escape that blends nostalgia with a touch of luxury, this New England gem is it.

Spacious Rooms, Cape Cod Charm

Whether you're planning a short getaway or a longer summer stay, Ocean Edge makes family travel feel stress-free and enjoyable. Ocean Edge offers two lodging experiences that are both family-friendly, making it easy to find the perfect fit for your crew.

The Mansion side brings that classic Cape Cod charm, with elegant accommodations and beach access just steps away. For families, the Bay Pines Collection villas offer multiple bedrooms, spacious living areas, and even private beach privileges.

Over at The Villages, it’s all about comfort and convenience for families on the go. These one-, two-, and three-bedroom suites provide all you need from your home away from home. Many come equipped with full kitchens, washers and dryers (a lifesaver for beach vacations), and even private patios or balconies for some quiet downtime. The extra space means kids can nap in one room while adults relax in another, and you won’t feel like you’re all on top of each other after a day of adventures.

Family Fun Activities from Low Tide Mini Golf to Beach Bonfires

One of the reasons Cape Cod is the perfect family vacation is because it's so easy to unplug and enjoy a slower pace of life. Ocean Edge Resort makes that even easier, because they set up all the activities, and all you have to do is show up. From beachfront bonfires to kayaking adventures, there’s something for every age and energy level.

The Resort is located along the Brewster Flats. These are the largest tidal flats in North America, they stretch for miles when the tide goes out—leaving behind magical shallow pools, seashells, and plenty of room to roam. You can easily spend a day exploring, searching for treasures, and just taking it all in. When the tide is low, Ocean Edge sets up a pop-up mini golf course right on the Flats, where the firm sand becomes the perfect place to play. Families can design their own holes, challenge new friends, and enjoy a totally one-of-a-kind game with the ocean as your backdrop. This was my favorite activity, it is so unique and interactive!

Ocean Edge also hosts bonfire nights right on the beach, complete with classic s’mores. There is something so quintessentially “New England summer” about sticky s’mores fingers and sandy toes.

Additionally, families can enjoy onsite activities like kayaking, paddle boarding, pickleball, tennis, golf, and biking.

One of our favorite surprises at Ocean Edge is the Oyster Bed Tour. Tours start on Memorial Day, and this guided eco-adventure lets families wade right into the tidal flats with a local expert to learn how oysters are farmed. It’s hands-on, educational, and unique enough to make it totally memorable.

Five (!) Pools at Ocean Edge Resort

We all know that a great pool can make or break a family vacation. Thankfully, Ocean Edge goes above and beyond with five swimming options that are perfect for every member of the crew, rain or shine.

There are two indoor pools and three outdoor pools spread throughout the resort, which means you're never far from a chance to cool off (or warm up).

If you're staying at The Mansion, you’ll have access to the heated Bay Pines Outdoor Pool, which features a hot tub and food and beverage service in the summer months. Families staying at The Villages can head to the Arbor Pool Complex. This is the resort’s largest outdoor pool and features a kiddie splash pad, plenty of shaded seating, and the Shark Bah (yes, that’s its real name!), which serves up tasty poolside treats and refreshing drinks for kids and adults alike.

Family-Friendly Dining at Ocean Edge

Ocean Edge has multiple on-site dining options that make feeding your family a breeze. With kid-friendly menus and everything from lobster rolls to grilled cheese, there’s something for everyone.

The Ocean Terrace offers Cape Cod dining in a gorgeous outdoor dining spot overlooking Cape Cod Bay. The atmosphere is relaxed but just special enough to make you feel like you are on vacation. For casual daytime eats, The Shark Bah (mentioned above) at the Arbor Pool is a must. It’s got kid faves like hot dogs and fries, plus tropical cocktails for the grown-ups. It's also super convenient when your crew is mid-swim and suddenly starving. If you’re looking for something quick and easy, Linx Tavern at The Villages serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a cozy, pub-style setting. It’s great for a sit-down meal after a busy day, and they offer takeout as well (remember this for beach picnics or movie nights back in the room).
