The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness
As a family of five, finding accommodations that give us enough space and breathing room is always a challenge, but these Fort Wilderness cabins checked all the boxes. From the moment we walked in, the space felt welcoming and thoughtfully designed for families. The cabin layout is perfect for a larger family (up to 6 guests): The space includes a bedroom area with queen bed and dedicated bunk-bed nook, plus a spacious living area with a queen Murphy bed that pulls down at night (great for our teen to have his own space). Our younger two loved the bunk beds, complete with fun Chip 'n' Dale touches. There’s also a large bathroom with a walk-in shower and plenty of storage space, as well as an additional vanity and sink area just outside of the bathroom.
Enjoy the warm atmosphere and attention to detail in the artfully-designed Disney cabins.
One of the biggest perks is the full kitchen —having a fridge, oven, microwave, and even a dishwasher is ideal for eating some meals in the cabin. There’s also a private deck with a picnic table and an outdoor grill.
The design of the cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness is the perfect balance between modern and rustic. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring in lots of natural light and offer views of the surrounding woods. It felt peaceful and private, but still very much Disney with playful artwork and theming (like hidden Mickeys and forest critter prints).
The "Hey Disney!" voice assistant is a fun extra in the cabin. The kids loved playing Disney trivia and asking for jokes and stories. We even used it to request more towels—super easy and convenient!
These cabins are quiet. After a fun but busy day at Magic Kingdom, it was so nice to enjoy a relaxing boat ride back to Fort Wilderness and return to the calm of our cabin, without worrying about thin hotel walls.
Overall, the cabins gave us the space, comfort, and flexibility that made our trip easier and more relaxing. We didn’t feel rushed or cramped, and our kids had the freedom to just be kids. It was the perfect home base for our little getaway.

Amenities at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort
Fort Wilderness is so much more than just a place to sleep—it’s a destination in itself. Our kids had a blast at the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool, especially racing down the waterslide again and again. The nearby splash pad is perfect for younger ones, and for those staying in the cabins, there’s a smaller, quieter pool just a short walk away. In the works are a brand-new zero-entry pool, tennis court, and two pickleball courts being added right next to the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool! Tip: Bring towels from your cabin or campsite, as they aren’t provided at the pool.
The catch-and-release fishing excursion is a fun way to learn to fish.
One of our favorite experiences was joining a catch-and-release fishing excursion. With Cinderella’s Castle in the background, and a wonderful guide helping us, everyone in the family caught a bass! It was a relaxing boat ride and one of those unique “Disney-with-a-twist” moments.
Kids can take home memorabilia they create at Crockett’s Craft Corner.
Over at the Bike Barn, our kids had a great time gem mining, sifting through sand to uncover hidden stones and treasures. It was a hit (especially for our youngest) and a nice low-key activity in between bigger adventures. They also got creative at Crockett’s Craft Corner, where they painted their own rustic Chip ‘n’ Dale wooden signs, which are now proudly displayed in their rooms.
A highlight of our stay was exploring the property via golf cart (they have standard golf carts, as well as 6-seater golf carts available for larger families). We cruised around, spotted wildlife, and found hidden parts of the property that we wouldn’t have discovered otherwise. The kids especially loved decorating our golf cart with a summer theme!
The nights are filled with fun at the Chip ‘n’ Dale Campfire Sing-Along.
Don’t miss the iconic Chip ‘n’ Dale Campfire Sing-Along, taking place nightly as weather permits. Roast marshmallows and make s’mores while dancing and singing with Chip 'n' Dale themselves. Afterwards, guests can enjoy Movies Under the Stars, a Disney favorite projected on the outdoor screen. It is such a cozy, fun way to wind down for the evening. Tip: don't forget bug spray!
To wrap up our stay, we watched the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach at the marina. No crowds, no rushing—just sitting on the sand and watching the fireworks show over Bay Lake.

And if you still want more to do? Fort Wilderness has it all—archery, horseback riding, pony rides, canoe and kayak rentals, arcades, playgrounds, basketball courts, sand volleyball courts, and bike rentals. Definitely plan time to walk through the Tri-Circle-D Ranch to see the horses! Disney’s Fort Wilderness is truly a choose-your-own-adventure experience, whether you want to go all out or take it slow.

Dining at Disney's Fort Wilderness
Having a full kitchen in the cabin makes it easy to cook breakfast or simple meals when you want downtime. When you don't feel like cooking, Trail's End Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Bring it back to the cabin or enjoy at one of the nearby picnic tables.
For snacks and sweets, the Meadow Snack Bar by the pool has all the essentials—ice cream, pretzels, nachos, and drinks. And don’t miss the Chuckwagon Snack Bar during the Chip 'n' Dale Campfire Sing-Along, where you can grab s’mores kits, hot dogs, and even Mickey ice cream bars while enjoying the show.
For dinner one night, we attended the highly recommended Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, and it was a total blast! This old-fashioned dinner show is full of high-energy singing, comedy, and interactive moments that had our whole table clapping along. Plus, the all-you-care-to-eat fried chicken, BBQ ribs, cornbread, and strawberry shortcake were a hit.

Why You Should Book the Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness
If you’re a family that loves the excitement of the Disney parks AND the simplicity of nature, Fort Wilderness is a perfect match! Compared to a traditional hotel room, the cabins offer more space, more flexibility, and more chances for togetherness. You can cook breakfast in your pajamas, roast marshmallows over the campfire, and still be at Magic Kingdom in 15 minutes via boat ride. It’s rustic relaxation and Disney magic wrapped into one.
And it’s not just cabins—the campsites at Fort Wilderness offers four types, welcoming everything from pop-up tents to massive 45-foot RVs. If you're into camping or even curious about trying it, it's a unique way to experience Disney that still gives you access to all the amenities, entertainment, and transportation options. A fun insider tip: Visiting during the holidays is extra special! During Halloween and Christmas, guests go all out, decorating their campsites and cabins with inflatables, lights, and themed displays. Rent a golf cart and ride around to see the decorations—it’s festive, creative, and totally unique to Fort Wilderness.
We left with full hearts, fun memories, and a new Disney favorite. Disney's Fort Wilderness provides a space to slow down and connect—and that’s not always easy to find on a theme park vacation.
