Garden City Park Playground Reopens With Splashy New Play Areas

Garden City Park in Nassau County has debuted a new, interactive playground experience at Broadway Park. The playground recently underwent a massive renovation, and its reopening has delighted the community. Families with younger and older kids can enjoy the completely renovated play space, along with an awesome splash pad.
My kids had a blast exploring the new equipment, games area, and of course, cooling off in the sprinklers!

Broadway Park Playground's Top Features
The completely renovated Broadway Park is in the heart of Garden City Park. The area is a great size for kids to really get some exercise, and it is all gated for extra safety. The playground offers four play structure options for kids, and a very cool splash pad, which my kids spotted immediately! The park layout is lovely with shaded areas, benches, and tables that parents, grandparents, and caregivers will appreciate.
The paved pathways and landscaping are newly renovated with beautiful flower beds lining the area. The upgraded, inclusive playground can accommodate kids with various abilities. The playground surface is now a soft "safety surface" in light blue and light green colors across the play areas.
Club House Play, Spinner, and Jungle Gym Fun
The first playground equipment my kids hopped on is called "Club Awesome." It has several slides, including a twisty one, a few cute benches for kids to hang out on that my little ones loved, and climbing fun. Kids can climb ladders or stairs to enter the action. An open double slide is perfect for little ones, too. The structure is even big enough for parents to navigate with toddlers.
There is another play space to challenge older kids to master climbing with tree stumps to balance on, climbing ropes, and a climbing wall to tackle. The jungle gym is the most challenging equipment and ideal for the older kid crowd. The modern orange, blue, and white play area has ropes to climb, bars to hang off, and platforms to climb up and swing on. There is also a jumbo games area with Connect Four and a spot for cornhole. The park also has traditional swings, which my kids always love.
Beat the Heat
The splash pad space is very impressive in every way. It is a good-sized space to run around. We visited the park in the morning during the week, and it wasn't too crowded. The park opens at 9am. The kids are able to control which sprinklers come on with big buttons on each side of the splash pad area.
If your kids want to get soaked–good news–they can! The two largest sprinklers release a big stream of water, but if you are just looking for a little mist to cool off, there is a section for that, too. Kids can even bring a pail for some water play and splashing fun. The splash pad is a good way for little ones to cool off on a hot day without the hassle of a full beach or a pool day.
Baby and Toddler Time
The playground also has a new playset with equipment perfect for toddlers and little ones to explore with their caregiver. The climbing area and slide are perfect for babies to get used to new playground action! This part of the play area also has a cute counting game and an interactive "Tool Bench" feature for learning and imaginary play.
There are a lot of cute Instagram-worthy photo opportunities. Kids from babies to tweens can enjoy a visit to this renovated spot. My kids are fans of this new playground, and we are planning our next visit to hit the splash pad!
